Old Miller Big 40 11-01-2017, 01:32 PM. About a month ago my mother in law gave me a miller big 40 welder. It had been sitting for 7 years. I cleaned carb, and fuel tank, and the engine fired right up. Since then I have not had much luck. I can not get the serial number to look up manual, but I think its a early 70s model.

A guy with too much money that owns a trailer shop offered me an older (74) Big 40 for $100 that was last used about 3 or 4 years ago. There were no issues with it, they just didn't need a portable very often. They misplaced the key and I don't think Miller used a standard key? Anyway it looks pretty good and they can hot wire it to make sure it runs.
